About Artist
Manit
Nivessilp, Thai popular watercolor
artist has created a new line of paintings, while at the same time
continuing to follow the Thai Heritage tradition.
Born and raised
in the area that was once the great artistic civilization known
as Sukhothai City, he has incorporated manz aspects of the Thai
style into this work.
Manit's work
contains many subtle techniques, His brush technique is unique and
many of his painting methods are unusual among artists. His especially
made brushes and materials help him achieve the shade and colors
he desires and allows him to remove colors and create grazing technique
as he skilfully controls the brush movements. All of these techniques
enable him to express the emotional nature of his paintings. He
said of his work, "the innovative and creative uniqueness of
my water color paintings come from the enhancement of realism, If
a scene is not beautiful in reality then it is my duty to make it
beautiful. 'Slum sketching' is a good example of
this, as I try to transfer the memory of real life into the form
of a drawing. The emotions brought out in my drawings express the
sympathy and sadness of the situation. If the picture has a serious
content then the reality may not look so good. But if the picture
has a serious content then the reality may not look so good. But
if the picture is decorating the walls of someone's house, although
it may be a picture of a slum, it still needs to have a
'feel good' look to it.'
He chose to
express the Thai culture and tradition by using his style and emotion
to rearrange reality. The audience participates by sharing the expression
of his work and sharing his concerns.
In Thai Heritage,
Manit captures the easy Thai lifestyle of the past including the
basic way in which Buddhists create their work. It also seeks to
preserve the artistic culture of Thai Heritage for future generations
of Thais.
